Posted on 27th September 2021

As Salaamu Alaykum dear brothers, sisters and well wishers.

Al hamdulilah, Ramadhan is upon us … Ramadhan Kareem to you and your families. We pray you are well and staying safe and are spending quality and valuable time with your beloved ones.

Abu Hurairah (RA) narrates from the Messenger salla lahu alayhi wa sallam who said: "When the month of Ramadhan starts, then gates of Jannah are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the shayateen are locked up in chains" – (Sahih Bukhari).

During these times of uncertainty, we thanks Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala for the bounty and blessings of reaching us Ramadhan … a month full of worship, dedication, self renewal and of immeasurable blessings. However, due to the prevailing situation, we will not be able to congregate and gather in the mosques for the rituals that we so cherish and enjoy under normal circumstances.

The Mosque - a gathering place for us to bow and put our face on the ground to our Creator, beg for His mercy and protection, forgiveness and salvation. A place where as a community, particularly during Ramadhan, we have always found warmth and security - enjoying simple moments with family, friends and Muslims from all heritages. A place from where we get inspired, guided and so much more. A place we all have come to love.

We at Birmingham Central Mosque are thinking of you - as an individual, as families and as our community. In the spirit of Ramadhan, we wanted to share some of the things that will lift our spirits, that keep us connected to our Creator, that give us hope and that special feeling of true happiness.

.

Uthman ibn Affan may Allah be pleased with him reported: The Messenger of Allah salla laahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise” – (Sahih Bukhari & Sahih Muslim).

By the grace of Allah, Phase 1 work has commenced at the Birmingham Central Mosque to rebuild, refurbish and renovate the main wudhu facilities, the main entrance into the Masjid and the associated areas. On completion of the work, the Mosque will enjoy a welcoming reception lobby, meeting rooms, offices, community rooms, a cafe and of course a user friendly wudhu facility for men and women. This will Insha'a Allah set our Mosque in good place to serve the Muslim community for decades to come.
The power of community has never been more important than it is today. And you can help … come with us on our journey and see for yourself:

We request your du'a and your cooperation. Know that our wealth is a blessing bestowed on us Almighty Allah. What better place to spend than in building His house. We urge you to donate generously towards this huge task and make this an opportunity for Sadaqa-e-Jaariyah for you and your loved ones. This is also a perfect opportunity to donate on behalf of family members who have returned to their Creator.

May Allah the Most high accept your fasting, your tilawah of the Qur'an, your charity and all the good that you do. We pray that He blesses you and your loved ones with health and prosperity and keep you safe and in His protection.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Birmingham Central Mosque to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Birmingham Central Mosque we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Birmingham Central Mosque to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Birmingham Central Mosque will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Birmingham Central Mosque receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
