Food Bank
Posted on: 23 July 2012
Dear Brothers/Sisters,
We are pleased to announce the start of our new Islamic Food Bank service from the blessed month of Ramadhan.
The purpose of the Food Bank is to provide help and support for those that are finding it genuinely difficult to fulfil even their basic needs for food and nutrition, in Birmingham.
We would rather not handle any financial contributions, and prefer that you donate the following food items regularly so that we can give the food parcels to the families who most deserve this help. The kinds of foods we request are:
Milk (UHT or powdered, No fresh Milk)
-
Rice/Pasta Baked Beans
-
Sugar/flour Fruit juice cartons
-
Pasta sauces Tinned tomatoes
-
Tinned Rice pudding Tea bags / Coffee
-
Instant mash potato Tinned halal meat
-
Tinned fish Jam/Cereals
-
Biscuits Instant noodles etc
Please bring your contributions in plastic bags on Fridays and hand it in at the Masjid to our volunteers.
(We request more volunteers to come forward).
We would also need affiliating agencies that can assist in referring and vetting genuine needy individuals and families to the Food Bank.
Distribution days and times to be confirmed later.
